World class dentistry, right here in Leongatha

Revolutionary advances in computer-guided dentistry are now available in South Gippsland, where patients can experience unprecedented precision and safety in local dentistry.

A number of procedures at South Gippsland Dental Clinic in Leongatha now use computer-based techniques, which have revolutionised the industry in recent years.

“Computer-guided dentistry represents a giant step forward in many aspects of dentistry, such as the replacement of teeth with dental implants and oral surgery,” head dentist Taehee Lee said.

Using Cone Beam CT Scan techniques and 3D CEREC® technology, South Gippsland Dental Clinic’s team of dentists can map out a patient’s jaws and teeth in three dimensions.

“This eliminates any need for guesswork, and allows our team to perform surgical procedures with precision and safety, which is a huge advantage in the whole process.”

3D imaging boosts success rates of complicated treatments (such as implant placements) because it can visualise previously undetectable anatomic variability and pathology during patient assessments.

“Simply put, 3D images provide much more detailed information than traditional 2D X-rays. This greatly aids us in our precision,” Dr Lee said.

“Due to the high costs involved in setting up the machine, most dental practices in Australia do not have this technology available on-site.

“We are proud to be one of very few clinics in Gippsland to offer this technology.”

With 11 years experience delivering computer-guided dentistry, Dr Lee said the technology enabled complicated surgeries to be thoroughly pre-planned, eliminating any guesswork in preparation stages.

“Our dentists can virtually perform and plan the surgery on computer. That information is sent to Germany where a precise surgical procedure guide is constructed,” Dr Lee said.

“Once it arrives back in Australia, we can perform surgery similar to keyhole surgery, placing dental implants with incredible precision.

“By planning on computers we can avoid any major anatomical features and know the procedure will be performed safely with minimal discomfort to our patients.”

Not everyone wants to tell the world that they have braces.

So here at South Gippsland Dental Clinic, we have an alternative option to conventional metal braces.
It’s called Invisalign®, a virtually invisible type of orthodontics.
Invisalign® has been designed to give people an option to straighten their teeth without the obvious metal and wire we see in conventional braces.
Invisalign® consists of a number of medical grade, plastic clear aligners.
Each set is individually manufactured to move your teeth bit by bit each week until you have achieved your perfect teeth alignment.
The length of treatment depends on each individual’s alignment and usually varies from 3 to 24 months.
When the Invisalign® treatment is completed it is important you retain your new teeth alignment.
We achieve this by taking a mould of your teeth and fabricating an individualised retainer that you wear each day for a number of years.
